PSA Google Systematically Denies warranty claims to charge you more

I'm giving up on pixel phones. I've had 4, and this one finally is making me give up.

I have a minor scratch on my screen. It happens. Then my pixel 8 has the dreaded green screen of doom. I figure, no big deal, I'll just take it to get repaired. Repair tech denies the warranty stating "there's cosmetic damage that is not covered."

Understandable, but the solution to the green screen is to replace the display unit. Scratch or no scratch. I'm not getting the screen replaced because of the scratches, I'm getting it replaced because of a design defect. Their solution? BUY ANOTHER ONE OF OUR PHONES WITH A DISCOUNT CODE.

Are you serious? After this crap?

Never again

The grass may not be greener on the other side, but for now, I give up on these clowns.

Edit: thanks for the discussion below. As frustrating as this issue is I acknowledge it's not unique, I am however upset that a long time customer since the pixel 1 is being treated like this over a tiny scratch on a screen, on a phone that has been demonstrated to have a design flaw. Regardless of what you may think about the cosmetic damage, Google needs to do better for their customers. The damage clearly did not cause the design flaw.

Edit 2: I guess I'm getting another pixel, my carrier gave me the option of a free pixel 9a... Cheapest Samsung option would've set me back by around 500 bucks. Repair was 220. Free phone better than no phone, and to some extent better than 220 dollar repaired phone. I am still sad about losing my pixel 8 that I bought outright, but at least the 9a doesn't turn green regularly.
